TEXAS

(Tue) 5-28-02
The days are flying by. I recall all the happy places I visited. I help Hitty Maggie and Hitty Eleanor in their homes. Sometimes Andrea plays his guitar in the evenings for us. The Hitty family and I enjoy the "Mini La Porte Zoo". I hope everyone enjoys the pictures. I help my host in cleaning the backyard. She has given me a pecan from her tree. Hitty Audrey and I have planned a pajama party for the girls at Hitty Eleanor's home. We went to the store to purchase plenty of "goodies". Details later…

Woke up at 7:00 this beautiful Friday morning. Had coffee outside with Hitty Audrey and host Sylvia. While my host was at work we prepared for the pajama party at Hitty Eleanor's house. At 6:00 everyone started to arrive. We had a light dinner of sandwiches and soda. We had so many goodies: skittles, gummy bears, popcorn, fruit, and cookies. We even baked s'mores. Yum yum. Then Hitty Hazel brought out her twister game and oh did we have fun. We also played a game called "Mall Madness". I ate a few too many s'mores, and drank too much soda. Was a good idea that Hitty Eleanor reminded us to purchase Pepto Bismal! What a relief. We stayed up playing and laughing, till the wee hours of the morning, and then slept until noon.

The weekend was enjoyable. Met my host's mother, who came for a short visit and learned all of my travels so far. Went out to dinner with them. Around 8:00 PM we started cleaning the dining room. What a mess. A little construction going on with the A/C vent, and painting of the ceilings meant that most decorations, chickens, and roosters had to come off the walls. Vacuum, mopping, dusting, but we did a good job. I even helped to dust a few chickens.

Went with host to take her mother back home. Met her sister halfway in Wharton, TX. Met at a small BBQ place called Hines. There was so much construction in Houston that it took us an hour to get out of the city limits. The drive back home was relaxing, as was being able to see the stars.

I left with host and husband to Blanco, Texas. I worked hard, okay mostly just directing the tractor. In the evening we sit on the porch, swinging and listening to the Katydids (noisy little green insects). We went in the morning to have breakfast at a slow pace restaurant called "Blanco Bowling Alley." In the back you can bowl and enjoy the company many "old timers" telling of the good 'ole days.

Received Sara's new address. Hitty Audrey and Hitty Eleanor helped me with my packing. I have my book to read while I travel. Host Sylvia looked up the weather report and forecast the forecast seems to be low 80s and high 40s. There will also be a Colorado Wine Testing event, 6-21 and 6-22. Can't wait to meet Sara Cole.
