TEXAS

(W) 5-22-02
I finally arrived in Texas. My host Sylvia was so excited when she arrived from work, I could hear her rushing her husband to open the box. She laid me down on the bed to stretch and I felt a pair of eyes staring at me. Curious cats, Blanco and Cleo, both gave me a sniff and then went to explore the empty shipping box. I helped with the feeding of the cats and then went into the dining room to meet the "Hitty Family." Hitty Eleanor and Audrey gave me a bouquet of flowers. We then all gathered at Hitty Maggie's house and had a nice chat along with fresh baked bread and lemonade. Later Hitty Audrey and I went outside to help my host in her yard. Later that cool quiet evening I relaxed with my host on the porch swing. She told me about the loss of her dear friend, her father, two weeks ago. She was glad that I had arrived at this time and would be going with her to work tomorrow afternoon. I was enjoying the still of the night, the moon shining its light on the glazing balls, when I heard an annoying sound like a duck quacking. My host explained it was a tree frog, a small green creature with big brown eyes. It reminded me of the crickets at the Preble's home, and their high persistent chirping and I was glad I was not a tree frog. It is late now and my host and I are retiring to bed. Hitty Maggie has offered me her room and I drift off to sleep hearing the ticking of the wall clock.

I woke up to the sound of bells in a distant room and the household coming to life. I sat up in bed to face a cabinet filled with chickens and roosters. It reminded me of the old lady that bought me from Carrie. She would collect china dogs and cats she would display with me. My host informed me that she would pick me up at noon to visit her work, Hidcham Industries. I laid back down for a bit and then went downstairs to help Hitty Maggie with the morning meal. We had plenty of visitors that morning, Hitty Audrey, Hitty Rosa, Hitty Emma and Hitty Hazel. I had a nice conversation with all about my New York and Florida stays. At noon my host returned for me. I had an education in office work, with filing components / hi-coat colored filer, request for credits, phones, and even was able to see myself on the Internet. I received a "million dollar" bill for all my hard work. That evening I relaxed with Hitty Audrey in the backyard garden.

I had a very relaxing night in Hitty Maggie's room. She was so kind to offer me her room. I read a book most of the morning, a gift from my host called "Wanderlust", by Danielle Steele. It is a story of a young lady that travels as I do. Later I went to visit Hitty Eleanor and Andrea. Hitty Eleanor and I knitted. That afternoon my host Sylvia told me we were to have a visit from her dear friend Audrey from Sequin, Texas. That evening we prepared a dinner for her and enjoyed the evening, swinging on the porch swing and listening to the noisy tree frogs and watching the full moon.
