ILLINOIS

July 18, 2002

I didn't think I'd ever get out of that box but Miss Jill finally opened it. I was greeted by Hitty Meigan, Hitty Devon, Hitty Cherokee, Little Hitty Marren, and Itty Bitty Hitty Kitty. The first thing we did was go swimming. Well, Hitty Meg did. I was afraid to get wet so I was glad when I realized only Hitty Meg was going in. She seemed to be the adventuresome girl and got to do most everything. (Besides, all the clothes fit her best.) Miss Jill didn't change my clothes. We did look for new clothes at Gigi and Doll Shop, but there just wasn't anything that would fit. Besides, Miss Jill was worried about taking things off and on me for fear I would be hurt in someway. I didn't mind, thought. I had such fun anyway.

Hitty Meg dove off the diving board. It was a sight to see. I'd never seen a pond like the one we went to. It was right in the back yard. She also went snorkeling as they called it, and brought up starfish and a sea horse. I sat in the sun. Bed looked very good to me tonight!

Miss Jill's daughter (who is also named Meigan) had to go in the hospital right away today. Miss Jill felt very bad leaving me and the others sitting all day for four days but said we could just relax until things got better. I was so glad to hear things were better and her daughter would be home in a few days. So I visited and relaxed for a while!

Miss Jill is a little sad today. It is her birthday and everyone was too busy. Her husband 'George' was playing golf. So I came to the rescue and took her our for a while.

Meigan Hitty gave me lessons in bull fighting. It was very easy, but I got a surprise. Hitty Meigan forgot to tell me to always watch my back and when I saw all the girls running for the hills I turned to find four bulls behind me. Hitty Meg tried to shoo them away with my apron, but as you'll see that didn't seem to work.

After snuffing at me they decided to leave me alone. I must say, with Hitty Meigan, "never a dull moment'.

After resting yesterday, today we went to the river. We watched the boats 'which had no sails' rush by us and make such a splash. We didn't take out Miss Jill's boat and I was so glad because after my last experience I wasn't feeling too secure in any of these boats.

After a day at the river (and sand everywhere) I was glad o rest my head.

Today we got ready for our camp out. Miss Jill went to the store and bought a tent for me. She has a dinner tonight, so we go camping tomorrow.

July 28, 2002

Today we are driving to Ohio. I am carried in the pocket of Miss Jill's Vera Bradley Purse so I can see everything. There are lots of corn fields and beautiful greens everywhere.

We did camp out tonight. I had my very special white wrought iron bed in the tent. The other girls had something called 'sleeping bags'. They slept on the ground. 'Ewww! Bugs!' We built a fire and sat around and told scary stories. I was happy I had lots of stories of my travels to tell.

Today we went shopping to find something special for my box. We found a cute white night gown, cap, and slippers.

July 30, 2002

Today I go in my travel box and head to Miss Bobbi. It's a good thing, too, because I need some rest. My pegs are shaking from all the exercise. I can't wait to see my next adventure.

NOTE:

I am sad to say that Miss Jill's mother went into the hospital, so two more days have passed. But now I'm really going to Bobbi's. Miss Jill feels so bad about the past of my travels and apollogised to me and everyone. I see it is really hard to be a human too.

Love, Hitty Alice and Jill
