Hitty Bayou, a Raikes Annabel Makeover by Robin Blair, Washington State

...

Robin recarved the head & torso, making her head narrower, body slimmer, andhair smaller. She also redid her nose, chin, lips, eyes, & cheeks. Hitty Bayou was then repainted.

Itty Bitty Raikes Hitty Makeover, by TC Vollum

1. First you remove the cloth and wire of the upper arms and legs. They are glued into the bottom of the torso and threaded through the arm holes. You can pull them away from the glue or cut off the cloth and then scrape the glue and cloth off the wood with an x-acto or a carving knife.
2. Carve a piece that fits up into the torso cavity. This will form the attachment for the new legs (see the pictures:
http://xsw.com/Hitty/raikesbitty/makeover/)
Once it fits, you can glue it in.
3. Find a drill the same diameter as a toothpick and drill down into the wood of the arms and legs and up into the blocks of wood you plan to attach.
4. Fit a piece of toothpick into the holes and shorten it until the leg/arm and the its extension touch. Then pour glue into the hole in the leg/arm, making sure to get some on the rim so that the exterior of the leg/arm is glued to the end of the extension (otherwise you'll have a crack at the join).
5. After the glue dries carve the extension to shape.
6. Sand.
7. Finish.
