Hitty Soujourner Truth with Becky

The receipt saying I had a package was in the box this morning. Unfortunately the mail man does not get back to the Post Office with said package until it closes so normally I have to pick it up the next morning which was not going to happen on Christmas day (tomorrow). Hitty Bee informed me that she and the other girls were not going to midnight mass without her so I had better find a way to bail her out of postal prison or else........

Broke my heart to think she would be so close yet so far on Christmas. Alone buried in a canvas cart on wheels. While everyone else celebrated the birth of Our Lord

And Santa Clause..

A quick trip to the Post Office and a determined declaration that my package had to be with me at church at midnight tonight got some action! Of course I swore I would never do this to the guy again..... Since he knows everyone on sight and even me now since I joined the Hitty Wagon, he will probably hold me to it.

He called the carrier on his cell phone, determined where he was at that moment and when he would be at my place of work. He told him the package was very important and that I would meet him there. Back into my trusty jeep to set by the mailbox at work. Of course the lady on duty had to come find out what I was doing since I had to be there to replace her in 45 minutes anyway.

This sweet lady waited with me and when the mail man took to long, she told me to go home and change into my work clothers and she would wait for the mailman.

God Bless Friends and Mailmen, Hitty Sojourner was waiting to be released when I got to work!

Bee and the girls set patiently while I cut her out of the well wrapped package. In all the running I forgot my camera but will have the husband bring it with my supper. Bless all the Hittys and their families, keep them happy, healthy and content with his presence (presents) this Christmas and all the days that follow,

Becky, Bee, Irene, Rita Elizabeth, Lilac, Fern, MH, Cherry Pitt and O:-)Sojourner Truth

--------------------------

Sojourner's first day visiting the Lake Livingston Hittygirls in pics.

She went to work with me and posed with the girls and checked out the view of the Lake. After we closed at 9PM we took them all home for a nap before Midnight Mass. Only 3 would wake up to go. The others were down for the night.

They sit quietly all through mass and prayed silently to themselves. I noticed that Bee and Rita Elizabeth watched and carefully mimicked Sojourners every move. She is such a great example for the girls and I hope they pick up on many of her strong traits during her visit and act on what they learn.

They were so excited after mass that they got to visit the baby Jesus while they were being checked out by all the curious church goers. They welcomed him and oooed and ahhhhed over him for a little bit before my husband dutifully carried the girls around and got them to settle down for pictures in several different places. Baby Jesus even had a Pine tree just their size that they could huddle next to it for one shot!

It was a quiet reflective drive home and the girls were tired but anxious to get under their blanket and close their eyes before the reindeers starting dancing on the roof. Although there is not snow they were sure it was cold enough for Santa sleigh to work down here. After all Santa has magic in him and they were all good little girls this year. Weren't they?

Not very exciting but a very quiet Christmas Day. The girls just sit around and talked quietly. They met a couple of the guests who came in but mostly kept to themselves observing the placid lake, the mud geese and the clear day and getting acquainted. Monday or Tuesday they will visit the town of Livingston and play on the old cabin steps and climb on the Iron Horse parked next to the old cabin. Sojourner will probably feel right at home in the old rocking chair on the porch.

Human Becky's broken heart is beginning to heal.

And to make up for the recent neglect of me and my new friends she and her husband took us ladies into town sight seeing. Upon visiting the local train station only to learn that the train has been retired AND fenced off from us, the general public, all we could do was stand outside (or on) the fence and look longingly at the mighty engine. I told the girls about the good old days when the Iron Horse was the fastest way across the country. Guess the Postal Bus is the only way out of town now and I will not get to relive the past to get to my next destination.

The old cabin porch was available to set on but some new fangled locks were on all the doors. Our noses pressed up to windows afforded us a wonderful view of what would have been the perfect place for me to sleep while visiting. That bed would have been a taste of home. I'll bet all my kids would have fit on that feather mattress.

But the wagon and the wood pile were too big a temptation even for me. A race to the top of the wood pile against the locals made me Queen of the Hill! Of course that called for a long nap before going down.

NEXT STOP: The Antique Store.............

After leaving the cabin behind Bee and Sojourner were allowed to touch in the store.
Although Sojourner saw many things that were old, none were as old as her.
They thought they would have a piece of pie but it was a little waxy.

Bee found the book store and the perfect title for her!

Now this little bench bent home with Human Becky and will become a rest stop between grandmas house and the Hitty Shed.

They tried to join the local boat club but couldn't find the water.

She will board the postal bus tomorrow morning to continue her adventure.

Hitty Bee and the little ladies will hate to see her go but they know there is a big world out there and Sojourner must see as much of it as she can.
With any luck she will get to come back when her journey is ended!
