With Linda

Hitty Mikaela welcomes Hitty Nellie Bly

What was it like to go around the world Nellie, asks Mike. Where all did you go asked hitty Julie. Nellie showed them on a globe just where she had went. What do you remember about your trip they both asked?

I ONLY remember my trip across the continent as one maze of happy greetings, happy wishes, congratulating telegrams, fruit, flowers, loud cheers, wild hurrahs, rapid hand-shaking and a beautiful car filled with fragrant flowers attached to a swift engine that was tearing like mad through flower-dotted valley and over snow-tipped mountain, on-on-on! It was glorious! A ride worthy a queen. They say no man or woman in America ever received ovations like those given me during my flying trip across the continent. The Americans turned out to do honor to an American girl who had been the first to make a record of a flying trip around the world, and I rejoiced with them that it was an American girl who had done it. It seemed as if my greatest success was the personal interest of every one who greeted me. They were all so kind and as anxious that I should finish the trip in time as if their personal reputations were at stake. The special train had been waiting for my arrival in readiness to start the moment I boarded it. The Deputy Collector of the port of San Francisco, the Inspector of Customs, the Quarantine Officer and the Superintendent of the O. and O. steamers sat up all the night preceding my arrival, so there should be no delay in my transfer from the Oceanic to the special train. Nor were they the only ones to wait for me. One poor little newspaper woman did not see bed that night so anxious was she for an interview which she did not get. I was so entirely ignorant about what was to be done with me on landing, that I thought I was someone's guest until I was many miles away from San Francisco. Had I known in advance the special train was mine, every newspaper man and woman who cared to should have been my guest. I never thought I would meet someone who has went all over the world. Yes and in 80 days , that is wonderful nellie saysHitty Julie.

Linda and I decided to surf the net today to see if we could find some things about me, Nellie. We ran across a site which had trading card to see and we thought they were very interesting and thought we would share them with all of you. Here is the site where they are in case you would like to see and read the cars. Linda has a project her, I and her Hittys will soon be working on. have a great evening. This internet thing is so interesting-computers oh what a great invention. Yours truly, Nellie

Nellie Bly viisted different places in the area. She decided to make a collage to show you. There were Christmas lights up in Rocky Gap. A walk around the canal. The History house where they are having Christmas teas for girls and there dolls. The Western Maryland railroad is in full run now going from cumberland to frostburg, maryland. A bed and breakfast is a nice place to visit. In the collage is several pictures of Nellie and friends she has meet here. Nellies visit is about to end. She has done an interview with several of the Yabba Dabba Doo family and that will follow. i hope you enjoy this, Nellie

HI, I have been busy here in flintstone. Hitty Steffie has helped me cut out a quilt square to make a quilt for me to take with me in all my travels. Hitty Barb said she would help me with the sewing. Nellie

The quilt is done. We spent soany hours getting it done. I would like to tell you what is on it. There is the world to remind me of my travels around the world in 80 days. it was such a great trip. I am on my travels again as I travel around to the different Hitty homes. my first stop was here in flintstone. on the quilt is the words Love and peace as two things I have seen so far in getting ready for my travels in New York with Julie and now in flintstone. There are five dolls on the quilt which will remind me of all the Hitty friends I will meet as I travel. I look forward to all I meet on my travels here in the United States. love, nellie

Hi, I have decided to interview some of the Yabba Dabba Friends here in Flintstone. The first friends are a couple from iraq. Ms Linda has a special friend Saul who is in the service and was stationed in Irag. On his return home he decided to bring his sweet MOM-In-Law Sue a couple dolls from there. They both are gorgeous and I was so happy to get to meet them while I was here in Flintstone, Even in a war we see something special from there.Nellie

Hi, I have meet some very special friends here. I hope you all can remember them. They are from Flordia where Ms Lindas friend Diane lived. Some of them were part of the LTBS Academy. Dr. Steve visited there and became a very important part of there family. Ms Linda was so glad to have them visit while I was there.
Another one I meet was a special Japan Hitty made for her by Laurel in Georgia. She was in a kimona and even had the dress down to her shoes. Nellie

I meet a most interesting guy here today. His name is Jacques Cousteau. He at one time was a travel doll like I. He returned to live here in Flintstone. Jacques has a key hanging from his neck and I was most interested in WHY. Jacques told me in his first travel he went to visit Ms Barb and her Creekside Cabin Girls. They enjoyed Jacques so much they put the key around his neck so He knew he was most welcome to come back there and visit again. I can see why they would like for him to come back, he is a most charming and interesting person.
I then interviewed Ms Hickory and her friends Mr and Mrs Squirrel. I thought this was most interesting as I read the book while I was here and knew what the squirrel in the book had done. ms Hickory assured me this would not happen here in Flintstone as Mr Randolph, Ms Lindas hubby gathered all kinds of walnuts and hickory nuts for them to eat. I sure hope thatremains as is now.
Nellie

Kirk the postman visits us a lot here. He asked me how I enjoyed Flintstone. i told him I have had a great time while I was here. he has asked me when i will be needing him to stop and pick me up for the postal bus. i told him very, very soon I will be ready. I will be getting into my box this evening and I will be heading out. Ms Linda will send an email when i leave. Hugs, Nellie
