Hitty Sunbonnet Pattern

Hitty Penny Lope models the bonnet.

Brim: cut 1--3" x 1 1/4" rectangle

Don't worry if the measurements aren't to the tenth of an inch kind! This is a very forgiving pattern. As long as the brim is accuratly cut, the bonnet back will fit.

Cut one brim and one bonnet back. Treat entire piece with a fray check product. Allow to dry.

Gather between dots. Right sides together, pin the brim rectangle to the gathered edge. Sew very securely across. Fold the brim over to the wrong side of the bonnet, and pin over the just created seam. Pin securely.. Hem the edges. You can add lace to the brim to make it a little longer if needed. I added a row of crocheted edging to Hitty Alice's bonnet.

I tied two ribbons to the bonnet at the bottom edge, and created a tiny bow where it joined at the hat. A dot of superglue on the bow can help hold it from coming undone.
